The Teach Tennessee History website is designed to assist teachers in sucessfully implementing the Tennessee social studies standards by providing them with primary sources, short content essays, lesson plans and actvities.  To further assist teachers in preparing students to write like historians, a series of examplar lessons have been created.  Each lesson has two parts.  The first is a formal lesson plan of the type you might find on any number of websites.  The second is a lesson design plan.  In the lesson design, a master teacher describes the process of planning a lesson with primary sources from choosing a standard to assessing student work.  It is hoped that the lesson designs will assist other teachers in successfully utilizing the vast array of resources on the site.
